Who Am I?
Where to begin? My journey to product design has been a long one. I started my professional career as a journalist and radio producer. I worked in sports radio for a decade, coming up from intern all the way to program director in Houston. I loved working in sports and my career grew at a meteoric rise. I ended up leaving sports radio and felt a little lost. I obtained my Masters in Journalism from Ball State University, managed a construction company for two years, and taught middle school U.S. History for a year.
I always loved helping people and loved projects. This led me to product design. I wanted to ultimately help people with designing for accessibility and limit pain points for people. I got into product design with Google's Coursera UX Design Course then I enrolled in Dribbble's Product Design Career Preparation Course with Helen Tran to hone my skills even further. I’ve just completed Springboard’s UX Career Course and worked for my first startup company! Along my journey I managed to use Figma and Adobe XD extensively and know my way around both softwares for design.
I love obtaining new skills and I'm always thirsty for knowledge. I try and learn something new every single day and I know I'll grow even more. I actively participate during team sessions, I've lead a team for years while as program director in radio, and thinking fast and troubleshooting was my specialty.
When I’m not designing, consuming sports or talking about comic book content, I’m enjoying my time with my lovely wife, Theresa, and two-year old daughter, Brienne. We’re also very excited that we are expecting our second child in September! 🤗
My journey to product design isn't over, it's just beginning and I hope you are along the ride with me!
